Is Magic Mushroom Legal In USA, Hawaii may soon become more than just a tropical paradise—it could also emerge as a hub for psychedelic therapy.
A new state proposal seeks to legalize psilocybin, the psychoactive compound found in certain mushrooms. The bill was introduced by Democratic Senators Stanley Chang, Laura Clint Acasio, Les Ihara Jr., and Maile Shimabukuro.
If the bill passes, Hawaii’s Department of Health would create “designated treatment centers” for the controlled therapeutic use of psilocybin and psilocyn. The legislation also proposes removing these substances from the state’s list of Schedule 1 controlled substances.
This proposed legislation follows closely behind a similar bill introduced in Hawaii less than a year ago, which aimed to allow the study of psychedelic mushrooms. Around the world, numerous research studies are investigating psilocybin as a potential treatment for various mental health conditions, especially for individuals with treatment-resistant depression.
Should the bill pass, a seven-member review panel would be formed to evaluate the implementation of the policy change.
This development aligns with similar initiatives in California and Florida. Last November, voters in Washington, D.C., and Oregon decriminalized psychedelics, with Oregon becoming the first state to legalize psilocybin therapy. Oregon is now working on creating certification standards for therapists and treatment protocols. Is Magic Mushroom Legal In USA
